One of the old regions located in the center of Tehran
With an area of 16.91 square kilometer, this region consists of 6 districts and 13 sectors
One of the most important features of this area is the location Tehran Grand Bazaar as well as many other cultural locations, governmental organizations and centers, ministries and embassies.
This region is stretched to Enghelab Eslami St. from north, to Shoosh St. from south, to Hefdah Shahrivar St. from east and from west to Vahdat Eslami St.
Number of families residing in the region is 91,000 with a growth ratio of 2.5% per year.
Considering the region being the commercial and economical core, the population could be divided into two major groups of resident population, of about 365,000 who permanently live in the region, and commuting population of about 1,400,000 who are present in the region due to the situation of the region.

Also there are 39 sports centers in the region.

There are 16 higher education centers, 323 schools and educational institutes, Daar Alfonoon School as one of the most famous and 26 Hawzas (Islamic seminary) and religious educational centers in this region.
